What do u put out?

well this is our first year hunting and we are putting up a few stands across my grandmothers property ( 74 acres). i was just wondering what you guys thought was a good object to put out. right now we have been putting out corn and we also have a salt lick (apple flavored YUMM! lol) about 25-30 yards from our stand. Our first stand is on a lane with woods to one side and a little creek with barbed wire fence by it. i walked up and down the lane a few times and saw a deer trail worn down pretty well. i think they bed down back there. But what would ou guys recommend on putting out? Think

Mudan it is illegal to bait in Alabama my friend. Id get any and all baits you have down picked up quick and hope you dont get caught. Bama and several other states are eally cracking down on baiting deer where it is illegal.

Bait is any food source or anything that could be construed as food that doesnt naturaly grow there or a planted crop. Salt lick= bait... Anything you put out like that, licks or piles. Anything other than scents with no nutritional value is considered bait.

It is ILLEGAL to:

1. Hunt any area where baiting/feeding has occurred until 10 days after all bait/feed has been removed or consumed.

Thats the first rule on the alabama regs site.

If you are on a well worn trail I wouldn't put out anything even if it was legal. Just be there when they are heading back to their bedding area or before they head back out to the food source.
