At what distance do you use a scope on your airgun?

I was wondering approximately what distance should you use a scope? I can usually get within 20 yds of everything i shoot but sometimes i cant. I usually hust small pests and rabbit. My gun came with a scope but i dint feel like goin through the hassle of sighting it in for thhat one time that somethings out of range with open sights. So what should i do? Keep open sights or scope it up? Its a 17 caliber by the way.

I have one that I use to plink squirells out of the backyard. Never had a scope and don't think it is necessary for what I do. anything within 20 yds is no problem with the open sights Yes

Think Don't know, but I wouldn't think it would be too hard. Maybe this can help: http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2005/06/more-about-sighting-in-how-to.html

They sight in exactly the same way that full rifle scopes do but if you buy an airgun scope make damn sure it is made for airguns. Airguns will distroy even the best rifle scopes! Airguns "recoil" in two directions and most rifle scopes are designed for normal recoil that is only one direction.
