What are you hunting this fall?

What are you hunting this fall and when?

I didn't put in for limited draw tags this year, so will be doing over the counter tags. Haven't decided yet but I'll probably hunt 2nd (Oct 18-26) or 3rd season (Nov 1-7) elk which is usually what I hunt.

I didn't get my first (April 1) application in either, but you can still get in on the limited tags. Last Friday they (CDOW) released the list of leftover draw tags (check the website - http://wildlife.state.co.us/leftoverlicenses/). You can go one of two ways:

1. You can get an application on-line from the DOW website for leftover tags, but it can't be postmarked before Aug. 1. That's if you don't want to go to a DOW office and wait in line with your wristband on a first-come, first-served basis. Which coincidently, is:

2. Go to a DOW office - Aug 12 - and wait in line with your wristband on a first-come, first-served basis. I'm not sure how long they'll be available, though.

I'll be doing one of these.

Hopefully, this is helpful.

Oh, by the way, I'm chasing elk and mulies this fall along with dove and ducks.

Good luck to ya!

Thanks for the info Kupe. I don't think I'm going to do the leftover tags, at least not the standing around in line.

Better luck this year, Chester, with #3. Hopefully a car won't run over the buck your after this go around!

I will probably be hunting the new golf course area. I have noticed a couple of shooters in velvet that I can't wait to chase. I have a lot of black bear roaming that property as well so that should be an easy one as well. I am able to hunt this area(golf course usually illegal) because it is not a finished course yet and is still a construction site until next year.

When I think of hunting and golf courses, all I can think of is Estes Park. Anybody who has been there and driven past the course on the way into town knows what I'm talking about. Huge elk herd lives there, not so much "on" the golf course, but they seem to spend a lot of time there.

Sounds like a good spot to hunt Chester. No (or not many other) hunters and game to chase.

Yeah I know what your talking about Kupe in Estes. Although I have not seen the golf course first hand, I have seen quite a few pictures.

They have a picture at the bottom of the page here:

It is private property so I should have the 300 acres to myself. There is one tee area that splits two par 4 fairways (365 and 385 yds)that the deer and bear have been moving through on a regular basis. The deer have been crossing at about 250 yds away from the tees.
