What are some good handwarmers?

I have read in here about a lot of guys using the disposable hand warmers and how great they are.

What are you using as I have bought some twice and they were totally useless. I tried to throw some in my waders when I went duck hunting with no affect.

After the hunt I opened another one and it seemed to get luke warm for about 10 minutes and then died. I purchased these new the day before with a good date on them.

Are some brands better than others or did I just get a bad batch? I'd like to try some more but don't want to throw my money away for nothing.

I don't know, Hunter. I have

I don't know, Hunter. I have used several different brands of these "instant hand warmer" packets and they all seemed to work good for me and my hunting/ice fishing buddies. We consider them an invaluable accessory for both sports - especially when the temps get into the single digits.

We've just grabbed whatever was available at our local Wally World or other big box store, and they put out good heat anywhere from 4-6 hours. I don't know if the altitude makes any difference or not. We use them anywhere from 650-1300 feet above sea level.

I'll take a look at the ones I have at home and send you a PM with the brand name. I suspect that all brands may not be available everywhere, but maybe it will give you someplace to start.

Good Luck!  Thumbs up

What jaybe said, but I don't

What jaybe said, but I don't have any left and have no idea what the brand name was!  I've taken them out to Wyoming on some cold days at altitudes up to about 7,000' and had no problems with them not working.  I put one inside big mittens I have or in a handmuff that hangs around my neck!

I don't remember the brand

I don't remember the brand either but I did get them at Wal Mart. They had a whole pallet of them and now I'm wondering how old they were. And they were the 5 to 6 hour variety but these only worked about 5 to 6 minutes.lol

I guess I will try again next year when it starts to get cold again.
