Re: western slope turkeys

i'm also looking to hunt turkey on the western slope. This will be my first year and not really sure where to go. I have found loads of turkey's but their all on a draw only unit that has only 35 tags. not sure if i even want to try and draw it since the 11th is the cutoff.

If anyone has any info on a OTC public place to try near the roaring fork valley or a couple hours drive let me know. Or anyone thats needs a hunting partner in the area I'd love to be out in the woods this spring. Wave

Re: western slope turkeys

I have done quite a bit of spring turkey hunting on the West Slope. To me it seems like it has gotten a lot more popular over the last couple years and tougher to find the birds. Most of the birds are call shy (just like our elk) and getting past locked gates on the NF to get to the birds is even tougher. Censored

If you guys would like to PM me I could tell you a couple of spots.

Good luck and good hunting.

I might end up out that way where I elk hunted last year.

Hey Mark, I would have to say that would be an excellent idea, although I tend to kill more in the fall there than in the spring. Whistling
