Went for a little drive yesterday...

Got up at 5:30 to head out to my girlfriends elk unit.  Got there close to noon and got lucky enough to catch some elk still hanging out in the open on BLM land:

Katie's elk

Lots of other babies out today too:

Swung through the Gore Range and RMNP on my way home, the beetle killed timber was looking particularly bad around there.

And more babies in the park:

If you look hard enough you'll see at least one bighorn sheep lamb:

Snows up on Trail Ridge were just starting to melt off, and the elk had just arrived:

Great Pics!

Those are some really nice pictures. I was very impressed with the swift flowing waters of the Sellway river this past week. All that snow is melting fast. Still some snow caps way up there, but lessening by the hour and we could see those streams and rivers flowing hard downslope.

on one drive?

Are you telling me you saw all that country and all those animals on one drive?  Wowzers!!!  That is incredible!  What fantastic pictures!

I'm sure you already know it, but you are blessed to live in an area like that.  Many people would travel thousands of miles to vacation in country like that.  It is absolutely spectacular.  You were fortunate enough to have a nice day for pictures and an even better day for animals to be out and about.  It's fun to see the elk in this stage of antler development.  It would be great to live in that area and take pictures over a few week period just to see how rapidly the antlers grow.

Thanks for sharing the great pictures.  What fantastic scenery and wonderful shots of animals.
