Went fishing this last weekend with my wife and a friend. It was a good reminder of how much I enjoy fishing. The last couple times I went fishing, the lakes I went to felt crowded, and I couldn't even get a crawdad or sucker fish to mess with my line. This time, we did not start fishing until 1:00pm, and we were still limited out, packed up, and leaving the parking lot by 4:30pm. Besides limiting out in short order, there were only a couple other people at the lake, and they were fairly well behaved (not too loud, respectfully kept their distance, etc.) We only caught stocker-sized rainbow trout, but it was a great time. Even though we didn't catch any large fish, we will still have plenty to eat later this week when I cook them up. As an added bonus, since it was Colorado's fish for free weekend, we did not have to buy a fishing license for my wife and friend.
I did purchase a new baitcaster reel for this trip. Turns out I should have read the manual before simply trying to cast it for the first time. Now I have a tangled mess that I will have to completely re-spool the line, tune the reel, and then see if I am smart enough to cast with it.
Anyway, it was good to get out there. Already looking forward to a couple more fishing trips this summer. Anybody else made it out fishing? How did your trip go?
