Weird Tracks

The other day i found some deer tracks going down a road on our property the racks were less than 2 days old. But the funny thing about them was that where the toes curl inwards on the front of the hoof was farther apart than the back of the hoof sometimes by as much as 1/2 an inch is this an indication the deer was running or something like that(altough the tracks weren't pressed very deep into the road bed) or could it be a deformity in the deer?
Any ideas?

Weird Tracks

I saw some tracks like that this year as well. Seemed to be good sized. I read somewhere long ago that bucks sometimes walk splay-hoofed, but I can't remember why. I'd also like to know.

Yeah these tracks were rather large. I followed them down this road for about 500 yards before I lost the trail in the leaves.

Weird Tracks

Whitetail have 38 different gaits. The splayed front hoof indicates a head low shifting the body weight forward causing the front hooves to splay more than the rear. Propbably trying to sneak or felt nervous at the time.
