BULL

Poppycock-drumming the call of patriotism for a war that has ulterior motives is the worst crime against true patriotism and the people that died before us Zen

Mr. Bush himself has admitted that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with the attack on the WTC and the Pentagon on 9/11. The Republican led Senate investigation said same.

This referenced website is just pandering to the ill-educated masses in the dishonest name of patriotism to support the poorly thoughtout and undertaken invasion of Iraq.

Good thing he is a "good" christian as one day he will have to face his god and answer for this screw up and the unnecessary deaths of American troops and Iraqi civilians.

So much for being in command and responsible for what happens on your own watch...

OK, Zen and Michael -- just how much time have you spent in this war? Have you ever huddled in a bunker during a rocket attack? Have you ever lived anywhere where people get legs blown off by landmines? Have you looked in the eyes of people who want to kill you? I have, so don't call me uneducated about war. That's my boss you're talking about, and he's doing a far sight better job than his predecessor who sat on his hands and let this mess develop into 911. Don't believe me? What'd we do after Khobar Towers, the embassy bombings, the first WTC attack, or the Cole? How about Somalia? We turned tail and ran! 9/11 may have happened on Bush's watch, but he didn't set it up.

We haven't had suffered a significant terrorist attack in almost 4 years -- contrast that to the "every year or two" record previously under an administration that refused to engage. Those four years of safety aren't due to pacifism -- they're due to American GIs taking the fight to the enemy and eliminating their ability to do anything substantial.

And I might remind you -- it's not us killing the Iraqis, it's Iraqis, Jordanians, and Syrians killing Iraqis.

It must be so easy to sit in your easy chair eating cheese puffs and throwing insults at the folks out on the line putting their lives on the line for your unappreciative butt. Some of us actually care enough about the country to serve it, rather than throw rocks at it.

Rather than just spouting off the rhetoric you're collecting from the likes of Michael Moore, I suggest you actually do some research. Don't call me uneducated -- I wrote my second Master's thesis on international terrorism, and I'll be happy to enlighten you any time.

True patriotism is to be revered, upheld, lauded, however, as the saying goes " Patriotism Is The Last Refuge Of Scoundrels," and there is no higher crime for a politician to lie to a nation about the need, reason and necessity for sending our sons to a battlefield; this president clearly lied about this war, was making plans to go to war many months before, told his top planners to make a reason for war, etc. Unfortunately many people, esp. conservatives refuse to accept these facts, and can't buck their own party on this issue.
It is also truly pathetic to see so many otherwise intelligient, well meaning Americans allow themselves to be led by the nose by sold out politicians using the guise of patriotism to make the arguement for war, sacrificing their children (not the children of politicans) to death, mutilation, and all the other horrows of war.
I support the likes of former President Teddy Roosevelt, who 'carried a big stick," but I think Teddy Roosevelt would have worked tirelessly to confront this BIG LIE.
There are Americans of ALL political persuasions who defy war, based on LIES zeN- Libertarian, Patriot, American

I'll tell you what, Zen -- why don't you try leading American troops in this war as I have. You'll find the best people our country has to offer -- and they're motivated and believe in what we're doing. Before you go complaining about the sacrifices made by those doing the sacrifices, I suggest you talk to them about it. I somehow doubt you'd share their motivation if we put you in austere conditions breathing a lot of dust with a whole lot of weight on your back and people shooting at you. Our troops are committed to something far greater than themselves, and are proud to be putting it on the line while those in the rear whine and complain but don't sacrifice squat.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion and I've devoted a lot of years to protecting your right to express it. But I strongly disagree and ask you to respect my right to do so. Patriotism is far more than repeating Hollywood rhetoric -- it's about what you're willing to do for your country. I've sworn my blood for it, and my family's behind me. What about you?

You've got to look past the rhetoric and look at the whole story.

Spoken like a good monkey-this is at least the second time that you have insulted others with a different take on Iraq, questioning our motives and patriotism.
All the suffering, mutilation and dying of our soldiers does not change the facts of this war ONE IOTA. It is however a crime of the highest sort that soliders have been led into a war based on lies. But this pollitical point has no bearing on the motivations and service of our young men, who are serving valiantly; the military has a long record of valiant service throughout history, and because it is a soldiers duty to serve and not question, the judgement over the decision to go to war falls at the feet of congress and the CIC.
Having said that, this subject is not about the soldier. It is about the politicians that have made this war. I am sorry that you have confused the facts of this war with the suffering of soldiers. Surely you can't suggest that Americans who see the obvious suffering of our sons don't support our troops, but putting your head in the sand and refusing to see the political lies for going to war-doth not equal patriotism. All of the worst dictatorships in history have sought to control public thought by shouting "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!" and attempted to muzzle opposition to military intervention. What makes our nation great is our democracy, and our ability to limit the abuse of power, this war has been questioned from the beginning by intelligient good citizens who will continue to oppose despots who send our children to war for ulterior motives zeN
