Wallerin' critters.

First day of bow season in Montana today ( Laugh its the most wonderful time of the year Laugh ) I hunted an area I hit a couple of times last fall. It's kind of a hidden meadow with several springs. In one place I could tell there was a good bit of mud wallowing going on. Any experience on what time of day elk would tend to do wallow? I'm guessing evening, but really don't know.

Wallerin' critters.

I would guess in the heat of the afternoon 11am-4pm, largely because that seems to be the most likely time they bed up on hot days with clear nights. The rest of the time especially dusk/dawn they seem to be grazing around.
