Wake Up - We're at War

The presidential election, posts on this forum and elsewhere along with letters to the editor have made realize that we are in a culture war.

On one side are those that want to socialize the US, are intolerant of anything or anyone that doesnt share a liberal outlook, dare to disagree with blacks, hispanics and homosexuals. They want to label us homophobs or racists if we do.

They believe in wealth redistribution, a one world government and in the government taking care of everyone.

On the other side there are those that believe in capitalism, self-responsibility, independenc and freedom from the government, the government in a limite-capacity serving the people and America first.

We can and should argue on which side is right, but the issue I've come to realize is that the side that is 180 opposite than me is waging a war and my side is not fully engaged.

We are like McCain who stuck to public funding when B O broke his promise. Part of the reason that B O won is that he had far more funds than McCain, but McCain felt obligated to keep his promise. Well, all is fair in love and war.

We need to wake up and stand up. We need to fight for what we believe in and not be afraid to take a stance even when we are attacked and called racist, homophob, etc.

I expect Civet and SoCo will freak about the term "war" and hysterically accuse you of fomenting armed rebellion. I know what you mean.

We're in the middle of a conflict between:

- Those who want to restrict individual liberties for the sake of the government, and those who want to restrict government for the sake of the individual

- Those who would wait until our enemies are in our house vs those who believe in engaging enemies as far as possible from our borders

- Those who scream about "tolerance" vs those who actually practice it

- Those who legislate based on emotion vs those who legislate based on reason

- Those who believe in the sanctity of death vs those who believe in the sanctity of life

- Those who see God as the source of our problems vs those who see God as the answer to them

civetcat, How old are you?
Are you even out of high school?
Some of this noise you spout and the sources you use and quote are straight out of the high school libraries.
When you say it's time to put the kids to bed do you mean that your Pops came in your room and told you to "turn off that computer and put away that converted semi auto carbine and go to bed son"?

Here are some things I'm for:

1. Civet getting an actual education instead of stuffing his brain at Kos.

2. Victory

3. Individual liberties

4. Putting America first

5. Reserving citizenship rights and privleges for citizens

6. The right of human beings to protect themselves

7. Taking care of myself instead of expecting the government to do it for me

8. Logic & reason

9. Free speech

10. The right to worship and vote as I please without being attacked by mobs

11. The right to enjoy the fruits of my labors instead of someone else's

12. Legislation from Congress, not from the bench

13. Individual accountability for actions

Civetcat ignored that I did post what my side is for. And, it is interesting how well what I stand for and what Expat stands for match up.

Jtap every time someone says something nasty about me rather than about what I said I figure they really have nothing to say. Is that the case with you?

I suspect I'm a bit older than most here, about done with my tenth president. Perhaps they were trying to tell you something important back in high school, whish you'd paid more attention?

The culture wars are over. You guys lost. It all happened in the late 60s, this is just the residue. Are you all starting to get clingy?

When I was a kid Eisenhower was the president and John Diefenbaker was Prime Minister - not sure which age bracket that puts me in around here, but I don't think any of you have to worry. With Hillary Clinton as Sec. of State it is going to be much more difficult for Obama to wrest control of the government from the big business interests that have had its' hooks into you for the last 3 generations. And if he can't do that, you can probably enjoy the status quo for years to come. If what we're seeing in Iraq now, (reported on Canadian television as a 'sea-change' in attitude), results in a cessation of hostilities during the new presidency we'll have to remember that it started to get better during the old one.
Jtap, could you please post some links for me to read where it says the U.S. forces in Iraq are part of a United Nations coalition? I've been searching like crazy here and all I can find are condemnations. Are all google links 'kool-aid cafes'? Resolution 1441 was the UN giving Saddam hell for dicking around with the weapons inspectors - it does not constitute marching orders, (that's probably why the Sec. General said the invasion was illegal) , and I read in Wikipedia, (I know, I know, wikidaemia ), about how there was another; resolution 18 or 2 or whatever you call it, that was withdrawn. Was that one what you meant? You did say it was a U.N. coalition, remember? I thought I might find corroboration on the Klan or John Birch websites but it turns out even they protested against the war.

Once again, Baghdad Bob has spoken -- the culture war is over and the conservatives lost. Yeah, right. That explains all the gay marriage bans being voted into place all over the country, doesn't it? And I suppose the absence of a culture war explains increasing attacks on Christianity around the country, too?

Again, you can't make something true just by clicking your heels together three times and repeating it over and over.

Holy Crap! CVC has declared war me! Crap.... have all the AK's and AR's been sold out already??? Anybody know where a guy can get a RPG? Some Claymores? I better start stockpiling and fortifying my compound. When the RRWA (radical right wing army) comes for me I ainta going down without a fight!

On a serious note. My uncle who is also an avid hunter, shooter, reloader, gun owner, and religious man, and voted for Obama, was telling me he's been getting emails from old hunting buds talking about revolution against Obama. My uncle worked for Slumber J (sp?) in the Wyoming oil fields for 25 plus years and retired and moved back to Colo. three years ago. While out there his main work and hunting buds were all hard core, NRA, right wing, outdoors men. He being an affable fellow, bad ass hunter, and extremely humorous funny guy, was able to keep long lasting friendships with these guys due to the common interest of hunting and shooting.

The reason, I bring him up is because he's still friends with many of these guys since moving and they communicate by sending him emails all the time. He's told me recently he's been getting a lot of emails calling out for an uprising and or revolution against the 'left', 'Obama', 'liberals'.

Another very good bud of mine who is white is originally from St. Joe Mo, and worked in a gun store out there for years before moving to Colo. He voted for Bush in 00 and then Kerry and well Democrat since then. He's also a religious man but more and more doesn't like organized religion and sees it as more of a negative force then positive when it comes to people. He collects guns, old rifles Winchester levers and He's always told me St Joe was comprised of hard core right wingers most openly racist. He also gets emails constantly from buds back home that are hard core right wing propaganda.

They have both (he and my uncle) forward them to me to check out at times and they are pretty crazy, but I guess pretty standard if you like the teachings of Limbaugh, Colter, Hannity, and such. My bud from St. Joe even has a name for them, he calls them the Right Wing Forward Email Nation because all they do is send him forwarded emails of the most outrageous right wing paranoid propaganda. He said it be nice to hear how such and such kids are doing, how the wife is, but it's like they can't even write and only know how to hit the forward button on the latest email from ann colter. He said he's even had to request that he be removed from their forward list because he's sick of receiving these emails that cluster his mail box.

Anyway, if these are the types that are declaring war on me because I see things differently then them, I say bring it on in whatever arena they choose because I'd never stand with or for closed minded myopia like that.
