W. Texas Audad and/or Mule deer

I am looking for info on arias to hunt Audad and mule deer in the same place in Texas. Or just one or the other.

I am an avid mule deer hunter from Washington state and would love to hunt mule deer in Texas. The Audad sheep is something else I would like to get a crack at some day as well. I was told that if I was interested in audad I should go in the winter (jan/feb) when deer season is closed to avoid the deer hunting crowd.

What is the mule deer tag situation like in TX for non-residents?

If somebody has useable info they would be willing to share or knows of or has land they would be willing to let me hunt make a post or pm me. I would share WA info in trade.

I'm probing to see whos got what. Obviously I am not trying to do all of them this year. And YES I do want to do a lot of hunts! Does that bother you?

If you find anything interesting on the Barbary sheep (auodad) situation there send me a message. I would like to do that hunt someday too. For what the guides there charge I could go on a Colorado elk hunt for. Those two hunts don't even come close in my book.

I would be interested to hear what you find out about mule deer too.

I see a post from you a while back that said you had drawn a nevada deer tag for the elko aria.

The outfitter draw is a new thing to me. If you go with an outfitter you get to draw a tag earlier?

I and an amigo have applications in and are planning on going west of the Battle mountain aria. Which looks fairly close to where you are going. You are using an outfitter? Have you got any info you are willing to share about there? My friend did all the legwork on our hunt. He put in for the tags, picked the aria etc. I just gave him the money and hoped he knew what he was doing. Are you hunting private or public land?

I am a Texas resident and i can tell you folks down here have LOST THEIR MINDS with hunt prices. I was looking for a Mule Deer hunt in West Texas and couldn't find any decent one for less than 4k. I can get a Colorado landowner tag for a thousand and spend five hundred in gas and another five hundred in gear and be into a Muley hunt for half that price. It is irksome.

 

I don't know if this is open to nonresidents but there are drawings every year for hunting on Texas public land (bethca didn't know we had any! lol) and nice Mulies and Auodad are shot every year. 

Finally, there is a spot you can hunt auodad with only a Texas hunting license and a $20 permit. That is Amistad Nationa Recreation Area down by Del Rio. Archery only.

I find it interesting that the fact I want to gather knowledge on what is avalible to be hunted in this country bothers you so much.

I will be intersted in learning about where and how to hunt something else alot! Doesn't mean I'm trying to hunt them all today. Some people can think about more than one thing at a time. Furthermore, I love to hunt. I want to hunt it all. My quest for people with a local knowledge of certine animals really should be of no concern to you unless you have something to add. Otherwise your replys are quite a banter.

If you find my posts offensive, then feel free not to read them.

Would you prefer that I only asked about one game animal a year? What if I want to know something about a bird too? Would that be okay?

Yeah we want to do alot of hunting and talking about hunting here on a hunting forum!  I say ask away! 

Now on west Texas Mule Deer hunts i would look for info on hunts in Big bend country and around the Davis Mountains is where you find alot of Audad and some good Mule Deer hunts.
