Great post, pangolin -- this guy is today's John Kerry. It's amazing that our soldiers have been engaging in such systematic torture, rape, and mayhem across the Middle East for 8 years and so little of it has come out -- amazing that somehow Bagwell has had insight into this that so many others in military, political, and media circles haven't.

Do you have any more biographical info on him? He says he's an Afghanistan vet and former counterintelligence officer, but the net is full of posers that have turned out to be fakes. It'd be nice to put it back in their faces and show them a real one. Hopefully he's not another one of those guys who claims to be something he isn't, or who's disgruntled because he left the service for other reasons.

I wish they'd put a bit more work into production on the video, too. I don't know whether they had to do multiple takes or what, but they have so many edit jumps in there (after almost every sentence), that it's a little distracting. I wish he'd either practiced more to deliver it in one take, or that they'd let him be himself.

You've been asleep or reading dogma for 8 years. Just read back through this thread for a start.

Ya, maybe he's one. Why don't you show me where and then denigrate someone's service to ones country. Myself I'd go carefull before calling a veteran or his service to his country a lie. Just sayin.

yup, no where near as smooth as Fox with thier Murdoch millions, just a veterans group, who would imagine they could be so amature.

Did I accuse him of lying? I don't think so. All I did was ask if you had more information on him. VoteVets just had the Rick Duncan embarassment, so I'm sure they're taking care to make sure it doesn't happen again. I was just hoping you had something that established this guy's bonafides, since I haven't found a lot of info about him. I'm not denigrating anybody -- just asking for more about the guy. Why so defensive?

As far as the video goes, all I'm saying is it's distracting. I hate to see a good message diluted by bad editing.

I had to google for Rick Duncan, who knows about Bagwell. Vote vets never seems to push the envelope with truthiness. Of course there's also General Patreaus calling for a Gitmo closure and following the Geneva Conventions. Seems to be a decided shift among the top brass away from the Limbaugh /Cheney splitists.

Sorry Ham Noi Bunny, what do you want to say about Ms Pelosi? Looks to me as if the CIA were doing a little more than stretching the truth. If Pelosi is fibbing why not the votes for some sort of investigation? Why are the talkies spending time with racist supreme stuff instead of the hated Pelosi? I'll tell you why. Every conservative is secretly inluvwithher including you, am I right? You have your own Pelosi photo collection? favorite quotes on audio tape?

Asking about something Obama?
Try this hole in the sand on for size, insert head, and ignore everything you hear and see that is not from the Obama Constitution Destroying War machine.
All you need to know is that Obama and his cronies will take care of it and you.....err....as long as you are not a white male or an unborn baby. Either of those and you don't stand a chance.

I googled Rick Duncan, aka Rick Strandlof. Since pogo won't say it, he was the darling of the libs -- a former marine that had been badly wounded by an IED and who spoke at all kinds of events, to include an Obama veterans rally. Turns out he was never in the military, but spent time in a mental hospital. VoteVets didn't bother to verify his credibility because he was so popular.

I don't know about Bagwell, but his video isn't on the VoteVets website. Maybe they cut him loose for fear that he was another Duncan.

There's got to be something out there that proves Bagwell is legit -- but all I can find in Gooogle is sources that take his word for it. I see a lot of stuff referencing "VoteVets.org's Jay Bagwell", but when I went to the VoteVets website, they don't have anything about him -- his name isn't even on the video response to Rush Limbaugh about phony soldiers. You're more in touch on this than I am, pangolin -- can you find anything?

The guy has some great stuff to say, but it's getting frustrating because people being pushed up as spokesmen for particular causes are generally accompanied by verifiable biographical info that establishes credibility. I know it's got to be there, but can only assume it's still tough to find because he's new on the scene. If you could help me out I'd sure appreciate it, because I've got friends asking me about this.

All I did was google like you. I'm not interested enough to pursue it. I'd be more skeptical of the macho seeming types than kind of a geeky egg head. Many times people might be willing to give an interview about an issue they feel strongly about but dont' want to align themselves with a paticular organisation.

I saw an original spokesperson for vote vets on the you tube once and he was prettty convincing in his opposition to the war and to getting health care for returing vets. I think he was from the state of Washington though. I don't think the organisation as a whole is a bunch of phonies, just a veterans advocacy group, gosh knows they need one.

Pretending to have been in wars is more common than one would think. Even more common is pretending higher rank, or being a POW etc.

I'd cry fake on all the sign holding drunks at the intersection but I'm afraid they might just be real. Lots of homeless vets. Every one uses them as heros then when things quiet down they are forgoten. I'd wish them health care for life and a college education at the least. I can't imagine how multiple tours has affected people.

Video is still there it's on the tab mid screen called hot topics.

JR, don't buy into pango's tripe. There are plenty of veterans advocacy groups out there -- this link lists some of them:

http://veteransnetwork.net/directory.php

As far as educational benefits go, the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill passed by the Bush Administration gives anyone who served more than 90 days of active duty after 9/11 and who received an honorable discharge:

1. Tuition & fees directly to the school not to exceed the maximum in-state tuition & fees at a public Institution of Higher Learning.

2. A monthly housing allowance based on the Basic Allowance for Housing for an E-5 with dependents at the location of the school.

3. An annual books & supplies stipend of $1,000 paid proportionately based on enrollment

4. A one-time rural benefit payment for eligible individuals see comparison chart for more information.

The program provides up to 36 months of educational benefits, and can be cashed in up to 15 years after release from active duty. Furthermore, unlike the old Montgomery G.I. Bill that required members to contribute $100 a month for the first year of their careers, the new program is automatic.

As far as homeless "vets" go, I've seen a lot of them. Interestingly, there's a lot more of them in military towns. I also saw a spike in "homeless, hungry vet" signs after 9/11. They've figured out that they're far more likely to get a handout if they claim to be a veteran -- especially in a military town. That's not to say that there aren't any veterans among the homeless, but there's far more homeless people claiming to be veterans on a piece of cardboard than there are with an actual DD 214.

Tripe's not bad I'll have you know. (Vote Vets)My kids fish it out of the bowls of pho and gobble it down first, better than the meat.(vote vets) I like it slice thin and put in those pig liver pate sandwiches made with bagette, cilantro and hot sauce that they sell down at the market for 3000 kip.(vote vets)

Tripe at your six oclock
