Deathwind,

Why exactly do you keep saying the 30-06's days are over? It is still consistantly ranked the most popular big-game cartridge, and is at the top of the list in new rifle sales and also sales of ammunition. Quit trying to feed people BS just because you don't like that round.

How could you not LIKE it?

Ok, maybe better rounds in theory, and you may have your favorite, but how can you say it's days are over? That's a bit extreme and I'm sure it's not going anywhere.

Now, some of the ultra short mags, ect have many years to go before final word is out on THIER longevity. BTW, the 7mm mag is great too!
Thumbs up

RidgeRunner_07, funny how that happens!

And maybe that's how it SHOULD BE! The one you own should be the one you love and trust!

BS you say ,well i could cars less what everyone else is willing to settle for.If you like the 30-06 then great but forget about it being the one gun for everything/everybody.If your going to say that then what's wrong with any other number of calibers fitting that honor.I've had 4 30-06 and they where o.k. but old and boring ex-military calibers sort of like the ,30-40 krag,303 british along with old stubby .308 win.

Nobody told you that you had to use one, or that everybody everywhere should use one. There is a difference between preferring to use something else and making statements that are, in reality, outright lies.

I have a 30-06 bolt action 03-A3...year 1947.
I had a 350 Rem mag and sold that 15 years ago because recoil was more than i liked. I hunt for Deer in Northern California and sight it in for 300yds dead on. I dropped a deer at 460 yds with one shot ..165gr. I also use it for deer and bear in NH sighted in for 100 yds. I get my bear every year with a 180gr roundnose usually one shot except once when i got excited and deer with 150gr. The recoil is not noticable to me as the 350 was. I can find ammo from 55gr up too 220 grain. Where ever i go, i find 06 ammo available and when you are on a hunt in a remote area, someone always haas 30-06 ammo around the camps. The 06 works great for me where ever i go and what ever i hunt. Yes

I just picked-up a 300wsm Weatherby Vanguard with a bushnell Elite 4200. Great gun...the 300 wsm is a great caliber. Good hunting.

I would go with 300 WM or the 7mm. Both rifles are proven winners for knockdown and distance accuracy. Many loads to choose from and they will stay around for many years.

Hope this helps you.
