Vermont record

My son in law just got his moose mount back form the taxidermist and yesterday 3-27 we finally got a chance to see it. Took a while to get back but well worth the wait. This moose had a 50 inch spread weighing 864 dressed and scored 165.8th. I dont remember now wherre he said it finished in the all time Vt record boook but either way it's one to remember. Congrats Jason Thumbs up

Awsome!

That is really awesome!  His mount looks fantastic.  What a lot of people don't realize is that the moose in the lower 48 are not as big of animals as the BIG ones way up north in Alaska.  So a fifty inch moose in Vermont is a monster compared to up north.  In fact, a fifty inch moose in Alaska is the minimum size you can take in most areas.

We have the Shiras moose here in Washington and a fifty would be a true monster.  Your son-in-law can be proud of that spectacular animal.  The Shiras is the smallest in the moose family and his is at the top of that list.

It's kind of like the mythical number for taking an Alaska moose is 70 inches.... a lower state's moose at 50 is equal.  Way to go!!!

Well done

Good job Jason!

And thanks for sharing those photographs and the news too Rem2Arms. A fifty inch eastern moose surely is a big one. Consider that my 4 year old bull only had a 34 ionch antler spread. That's down right puny compared to those Alaskan monsters but a fair moose down east. 50 inches is a very nice bull in these parts indeed!

Well for me that looks like a big moose no matter where it came from. Great looking bull and a great looking mount, congratulations on your trophy.

We have the shiras moose here in Colorado and although I have applied for most of the last 15 plus years I am still waiting for my first tag.

That's a great bull!!!  And

That's a great bull!!!  And Eden is no stranger to producing big bulls!

My Dad's friend got an 859 pounder back a few years.  Not sure what the rack score was, but it was an impressive animal.

Congrats again to your son-in-law!!!

Thanks one and all for your comments. I will print and pass these along to him. Mike, I took a cow and could have waited but after walking 10 miles the first day I was beat. I would have LOVED to get one like yours and proud of it, not that I'm not proud of the one I got either.lol
