I was lucky enough to draw an antlerless moose permit for vermont this fall, If there is anyone out there who has hunted moose in Vermont (Area E2), I would appreciate any info and also any info on reputable guides in the area. Thanks in advance.

congrads. you pulled a good area , where ya from? i know the area well and might be able to help steer you in the right direction
I am from Kingston, New York. Have never hunted moose before and probably will be looking for a guide. Anything you can tell me will be greatly appreciated.
Is there anyone out there who has any experience hunting moose in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont?
In know this is an old post but when it came up at the bottom of teh page I had to click it. If anyone is searching the threads in the future and looking for Vermont moose advice in E2 again - give me a shout.
That's where I took my moose ![]()

And a fine moose it was my friend. One thing I would suggest to anyone going on their first moose hunt, is that you don't have to shoot the first animal you see. Enjoy the hunt! Enjoy the hunt. Make it more than a meat gathering expedition. Go out and see the land, the wildlife, the beauty and the freshness of the Vermont wilderness. I have been so guilty of taking the first thing that came along and ended my "experience" much too soon. Savor the moment. Breath the fresh air. The harvest is only one small part of the hunt.
Don't get me wrong, there's no one that likes to get an animal more than I do, but as I get older, I realize what else is out there to be enjoyed. Take a friend. Or better yet, take a child. Teach them something as you go. Pass on our wonderful hunting heritage.
And by the way, moose meat is very, very hard to beat.
I have been putting in for vermount, New Hamshire and maine for years can't wait for my first moose hunt.
I put in for a moose tag for 10 years before I drew my first tag and was lucky enough to get an area real close to where I live. The tag was for a cow or a bull. I took a 700 lb cow the second day of the 5 day hunt. This year will be the first year I can re-apply as you have to wait 3 years before re-applying again in Vt. I sure hope I don't have to wait another 10 years, ![]()

Good luck on the moose tag applications guys. I'm in for New Hampshire and Maine but need to wait another year or two before I can apply in VT again. I was BLESSED to draw a moose tag in VT after on 4 years of applying. I've put in for maine 5 or 6 years and am on year #2 for New Hampshire. Like you - I plan to put in for Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont every year I'm eligible hence forward.
I was talking to the owner of my local gunshop last weekend. He and his son have been putting in for moose tags in all three states for fifteen years. Roy - the owner has never drawn a tag in 3 states for 15 years! His son drew Vermont AND MAINE already and harvested TWO nice bulls.
The Miane moose is a Monster for Maine at 55 inches. And since the son had shot his bull in VT the year before - he let his dad down teh Maine bull. Wow. Lucky kid, and blessed dad there too!
I will get around to putting in one of these days.
My dad had a buddy that applied, got drawn, and took a nice 856 pounder.
He waited his 3 years, as required. He then put in, and was drawn again his first year of eligibility.
I don't think he got any that second year, but to be drawn twice in 4 years, he's one lucky guy!!!
I sure hope I can get drawn again the first year but I may have a small problem. You see my hunting partner got drawn and bagged a nice bull last year so he wont be able to go with me If I did. Ummmmm Whatever will I do? I'll have to do some thinking for sure ::whistling: .... Oh well, I'll figure something out when the time comes IF it does because the meat is just SO darn good !!
