Vermont Black Bear sightings unusually high

In central Vermont the sightings and taking of black bear has seemed unusually high. The total of bear that I saw during the 2003 Archery season almost matched what I saw for deer. I have also heard of many people taking black bear near residential areas.

Wow! I can't imagine what it

Wow! I can't imagine what it would be like to see as many bears as deer.

I have been deer hunting in Michigan for 45 years and have never seen a bear while hunting. In fact, I have never seen a bear in the wild!

"near residential areas" - that's one of the big problems with bears in areas that have a lot of people - they tend to get attracted to "people food" rather than their natural diet.

Here's hoping that they don't become a serious problem for the Vermonters.

Although I have never seen

Although I have never seen one while I was actually hunting I have seen a few in the wild and quite a few more in or around town. The bear problem was not too bad last fall around here but some years it is an extremely big problem in the Aspen area.

As Vermonster pointed out to me when I did it the other day. Wow man an 8 year old thread?lol
