Utah elk hunting

I just found out I drew San Juan Utah archery elk tag. I was wondering if there are roadless areas where I could use my horses of if I'm better off taking a quad. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Call Black Timber Outfitters in that area. They are the best on the San Juan. Tell them High Top Outfitters sent you. Oh yea, kill a big one for me!!! I am jealous!!!

I've riden my horses in that several times. PM me and I'll give you some suggestions and contact names inthe area who ride a lot.

Thanks for the info. I've talked to him but I'm not sure if I can swing an outfitter due to this "economic adjustment" but I'll sure keep it in mind.

I'm really jealous!!!! Did you get an expo tag? I've missed two years in a row now.

BTW you can hunt them either way down there. You can shoot a pig without either in fact. I hunted the San Juan for a week this last year and there are a ton of big bulls there right now despite some saying otherwise this year. I got within 10 yards of 390 class bull and I was crying that I didn't have an elk tag.
