If I was the dwr I wouldn't be selling any buck deer permits that are left over. Some of us put in the draw to get a tag, and others will wait till after the draw so as they will not have to pay the 5 dollar handling fee. So I feel that if they did want it so bad the first itme don't give them a second chance. Or have them pay the 5 dollars regardless. Like the rest of us did. pisses me off all the time. but no we have to sell the permits or we loose out on the money, If they would add up the $5 they are loosing by not doing this. come on give me a break. you don't have to be a high school grad. to figure this out. Just had to vent a little.
If you're lucky enough to be on private land and can leave your stand up during the off season you can tie an old piece of cloth or something of the sort to your stand. I like to use an old camo bandana that I have. That way the deer get used to the movement and eventually don't bother even looking up when there is slight movement. This may just give you the time to draw your bow or raise your gun without being detected.
