Utah applications are due

Utah big game applications are due tomorrow.  They have an online application system, and they are one of the last states left where you don't have to remit the full fee for the big game tag up front.

You do have to at least buy a $65 hunting license (as a nonresident) in order to apply, plus $10 per species.

If you just want a bonus point towards a hunt in the future, you've got another week remaining.

If you have been

If you have been procrastinating and haven't gotten your application in you may want to get your application in now.  The site was down for a while over the weekend and they have had problems before when a lot of applications start to hit the server.

Man, some day I will get back to Utah.

Hunted there 1o years ago, and it was some of the best times I have ever had hunting, even without getting an animal.

Good luck to all!  Maybe the next Spider Bull is out there for you.... Wink

I have been putting off a couple trying to make up my mind. I guess I'm going to apply for the bison and probably just the bonus point for goats. If everything is working it should only take a few minutes as I'm already in there this year for deer and antelope. I've just been worried I will have the best luck of my life and draw bison, oryx and a couple of others all in the same year. Long odds and stupid I know but optimistic is the way to think.

never know

My buddy told his wife last year that he'd get his $750 back from New Mexico, as the odds were almost impossible for him to draw and that this was for the long haul-hoping he'd draw in the next 15 or 20 years.  He drew in his first year.

Ok I rocked up and did it.

Ok I rocked up and did it. The website is working fine right now but is a little slow. Applied for bison for the first time and applied for bonus points for a couple of others.

Now it's just sit back and wait to see what happens. Good luck guys I know some of you have been waiting a long time for these.

Depending on how many put in

Depending on how many put in for that bison tag for the first time you may have better odds of drawing it than I do with 10 points.

I noticed that looking at the draw statistics for antelope and deer. You either seem to draw straight away or all the way at the end, very few or none ever draw in the middle.

With the way that the draw

With the way that the draw works for bonus point holders is that only 50% of the available tags go the the hunters with the maximum number of points and the other 50% is spread out to the others.  I know of 3 hunters that drew a bison tag the first year that they put it and then I had to take them out to show them where they hang out at.

I'm sure that has got to be

I'm sure that has got to be frustrating for you but at the same time I'm also sure they must be very appreciative of the help you have provided. It must also give you a level of satisfaction to be able to help someone succeed on this once in a lifetime hunt.
