Utah 25a Fishlake Plateau

Has any body hunted general deer in unit 25a fishlake plateau? Im looking for a place to camp and a couple roads to check out or even a trail head or mountain name. Im going with a couple of youngsters on their first out of state Archery deer hunt. If any body has any info on this unit I would very much appreciate it, If you have a secret area then send me a pm. Thanks

Do you want a couple of areas

Do you want a couple of areas now or later?

I guess it is late enough.  I have hunted quite a bit up on Mytoge Mountain during the general rifle season and have seen quite a few bucks and a few real nice ones.  This is the mountain just to the east of Fishlake.  There are all kinds of roads around there and as far as camping there are a lot of camp spots since you can camp anywhere it isn't posted "no camping"  That is as long as it isn't on private property.  To get there we would take a road a few miles to the east of the paved Fishlake road and then take FR046 (I believe) through the private property and homes to the east.  Then up FR742 to the top.  There are a lot of nice camp spots up there.

Then there is the Hilgard Mountain area.  This area has a lot of quaken aspen and some deep canyons.  To get to it you would take the Fremont Junction road from I-70 or Loa.  This is the road that connects I-70 to Loa, then FR015 to the top.  This is a good road that if you are dragging a trailer you will be OK on.  There are also a lot of camping spots off of this road and the side roads.

There is also some nice areas to the north of Johnson Reservoir but there is also a lot of private in this area.  The US Forest Service puts out a good map of all Fishlake National Forest if you are looking for a map with the roads and most of the private marked.
