Using dogs on turkeys

This next fall will be frist time hunting turkeys with a dog, a Boykin Spaniel.  Am curious, how many others use dogs, and any pics?

The method I plan on using is, keep dog on leash till find flock, let dog bust up flock, call dog back, hide and try call birds back together.  Any and all advice welcomed

I think that with that plan

I think that with that plan you had better have a good ground cushion to sit on.  My experience that if you bust up a flock of turkeys you might as well head to the next county and try something else.

Like I mentioned, this me

Like I mentioned, this me frist time turkey hunting with dogs.  I was reading on a "Boykin spaniel" forum from back east, Im in Oregon.  That is how they mention they hunt, sending dog in the bust up flock, then hide hunter/dog and call the turkeys back together.

Open to any and all suggestion on using dogs on turkeys.  Maybe just as a retriver?
