5A

bigalwapiti- I'm not sure how many Antelope points I've had before being drawn, but after this last draw now have 3 bonus points. I hate to make you feel bad, but have been drawn for Antelope 3 times in Unit 21 now, one rifle and the others archery. My son drew a tag in 18A a couple years ago as well. However my hunting partner has 12 points now, so I don't know what it takes. I think it is probably easier to get drawn for a bow hunt though...? My last hunt there in Aug. for bow was brutal with the heat and I thought I was going to die, worst ever for that; getting too old for that now I think, LOL.

I did draw a Mule deer hunt in 21 this year though in November.

5A

bigalwapiti- yep, drawn for Unit5A, our favorite. It is usually the only unit I apply for Elk in, and have been hunting/camping the same spot for over 20+ years now. My daughter and myself both have Fall Turkey tags this year in the unit as well. I'll put in for Bull and Cow, both archery and gun which pretty much covers my choices on the application for 5A. My family and best hunting partner does the same, and we all put in on separate applications in the hope at least one of us will get drawn, and then all go to help and have fun etc. Most years somebody lucks out that way, and this year it was me and my partner.

Hopefully so.

I will keep you posted Goose. I might be checking cameras again this weekend, and venture into the wilderness area alittle bit further. Thanks

Club

When my boy saw the picture, his 1st comment was " What day can I shoot that on if I'm lucky enough to see him?" I told him he could shoot him anytime he wanted. He still has 45 plus days of growing and he should be even uglier by then.

Never hunted unit 21 but good

Never hunted unit 21 but good luck to your son. I have the late season bull tag for unit 5B. Been scouting around Grapevine canyon and Diablo canyon. Also around Hay Lake. Have you hunted 5B before ? Have any good info on the unit. Thanks for any info.

5B

Yes, I hunted 5BS last year. That is were my Bull came from, please check out my picture gallery. I was extremely lucky and hunted the Early Rifle Hunt. The area I hunted was mostly around Long Lake. That is were I found the most activity, but it was during the early season. 5B has a ton of Bulls. Despite what some say there are also some Big Bulls! Just not a ton of them.  I would think you are doing the right thing in hunting the Canyons. I would also look for them to feed up on the benches early morning or late evening off of thos canyons. I dont know if you saw but my youngest son was drawn for 5A Late season. 2 of my good friends also have the Archery hunt in 5BS.

5b elk

Looked at your pictures ,NICE Bull. Would like to give you a call about 5b if it's ok ? My e-mail is sierravista3@yahoo.com  If you can give me your phone number and a good time to call . A good friend of mine has the 5b south archery tag also. This is my first Arizona elk tag and I am trying to do everything I can to get a good bull. Been hunting up in Colorado the last few years waiting on a Arizona tag. Thanks Donnie Hancock
