I hate to say this but, if it were tribal members nothing would of happened. Don't get made at me please.
Hunter education has nothing to do with it.

What I'd like to know is exactly what the "unsportsmanlike" conduct was. It doesn't say in the article. It vaguely mentions something about respect for the non-hunters and for the animals. Was it anti-hunters offended by hunting?

Sorry, but I just get suspicious when I read vague explanations. If anybody can shed some light on this, I'd appreciate hearing about what happened.

I agree with you vague story.

I agree with you vague story. I'm sure something went bad since they closed the hunt but a little more info would be nice

I think this story is the same that I saw by video.

A herd of elk found themselves in a pasture and were basically trapped there because it was fenced. It wasn't enclosed completely but I guess exiting was difficult once they were in it. The hunters using bows killed 7 elk in front of people who stopped to look at the elk.

I live in Washington State. Where this happened is a very well traveled area highway for the " nonhunters" to travel into the mtns. They have bald eagle viewing up at Marblemount etc. Beautiful area. Mad Ward and June were out of a drive with Wally and the Beav and probably saw the elk. Well guess what, it's bow season for elk and they've never an elk. Then some wild eyed bow hunter sticks an elk in front on the kids. OMG say's June. There's alot of hippies and anti's up there if ya know what I mean.

If that is waht happened, that's ugly. Just because something is legal doesn't make it right. And for hunter's to do something like that just reflects on all of us.

Thanks for posting the video CVC. This was a damage control hunt, and I'm assuming the numbers are so high in this area because they have not been hunted sufficiently. This video does make it look bad and I hate to see animals injured and suffering, however the WDFW did state that nothing illegal was done by the hunters. With such a large herd of elk, using rifles would have been a better choice.

The elk may have behaved like they were trapped or contained, however the fence is low enough that they could have escaped. What I see is a herd of elk that behave a lot like they do in national parks. They're not hunted, so they don't know how to react.

I do see this as non-hunters having a hissy fit over hunting the elk. Ultimately something will have to be done about these elk. There are too many in this area and they're causing damage. I love it how the non-hunters always use the solution of moving problem animals, rather than controlling the numbers through hunting. banghead

O WOE IS ME WOE WOE WOE. Not one person that was complaining hunts. NOT ONE. As you know to use these folks video's during a news program the TV Station has to Get a release from each one of those people for the TV station to use their comments. Then again maybe you did not know this tidbit. I am betting that each one of those persons was told that there was no way that anyone would know their names of addresses. That would normally be true. Still there are two way a person can get hold of those names. You can have a freedom of Information act filed to get their names. Or you can hack their computer system and their email generally has it on the person who was doing the interviews email. He normally puts it in the holding file for the article. in case the editor or the publisher need that name to give it to a judge in case a judge asks for it. Yes many of these news agencies have great technology dept's that have wonderful fire walls. Problem is none of these yo yo's use that same hard to crack encryption at home. Course they do all now have wide band connections so they can send info from home. They also have all learned for experience that they must leave their computer hooked up and turned on 24/7. Yes they turn off the screen but they leave them hooked up and turned on. Plus they a lot of times have family's and the have an in home network. So you pull up around the side street and listen on many of the frequency's to find out who is on and what they are doing.

Guess which method Someone I know used? Ok here it is. I am not going to publish the names although I really should so they could be hung out to dry. Two of the people in the interviews were vegans so they do not eat meat and they a PETA poops. Why do I call them that no right minded Person even wants to be known as belonging to PETA Not even Vets or Humane Society's Think about those apples! Not one of the persons interviewed hunts or will even eat wild game. How do I know. I asked their neighbors. YOu would be surprised what a person will say about the guy who lives next door.

This is all about a bunch of weaney's. Those folks do not think that any animal should be killed for any reason. but two of them will go to Have a BIG MAC Right? To bad these folks did not chase two or three elk over to a gate and as they got out of view then shot them. All they were doing was Slaughtering the elk like they would if they were cows. Now who would like it but at least keep their stupid mouth shut when it was done. Not these bozo's. We would all still be evil for killing something to eat.

PETA Get a life.

I remember this story. How

I remember this story. How sad. Honestly, what kind of "hunter" shoots at animals that have become fenced in? Do they have any belief in "fair chase?"

Boone and Crocket specifically mention the word "PURSUIT" in their definiton of fair chase.
