Unit 78 & 81 Colorado

First time poster here. Im looking for any info I can get on archery hunting unit 78 or 81 for elk in Colorado. I have spent the last couple of months doing a lot of research on the CDOW website. Have looked at google earth and the Colorado hunting atlas until my eyes are popping out of my head and finally decided on unit 78 or 81 both are OTC for archery. Being from Oklahoma with a tight budget I will not be able to physically scout an area before the season. I have to rely on the computer to get as much information as possible. There will be four of us going and I am the only one who has ever elk hunted before. This will be my 2nd elk hunt ever so not a lot of experience. We are not looking for throphy bulls here just want to find an area with a good population so we can have a good shot at getting an encounter with an elk. I would be just as happy with a cow as i would a bull. Maybe after a few years of experience and a cow or two under my belt I can start worrying about the antlers. Just in it for the hunt and beautiful country for now. Any info on these units would be greatly appreciated, not looking for anyone to give up there special spots or anything just a good direction to start.

Like what?

What do you want to know exactly?  I don't hunt there, but may be able to help with more general stuff, or others can jump in if you have more specific questions.

Both units are big units with

Both units are big units with way to many options for me to decide on over the computer. We are going to be hunting the first week of Sept. before ML season trying to avoid the pressure as much as possible. Hoping someone could give me a general area to start that has a decent elk herd. Like I said not looking for a trophy bull just be happy to have some close encounters with a few cows. Maybe get lucky and harvest one. This time of year what elevation should I be looking for 8,000 to 10,000 or 10,000 and above? Should I focus on water, meadows or dark timber? Any info is appreciated.
