Unit 48 in Idaho

Hello, My son and I didn't get drawn for a rifle controlled hunt in Unit 48 this year so we're going to go for archery in 48. We're looking at the Titus Creek area and Spring or Silver Creek. All are above Warm Springs Rd. which I believe are non-motorized. Any info on these areas would be greatly appreciated. We're from Penna. so scouting would be a problem. We love to walk and hunted elk in the Clearwater and Challis area before. Thank you for the replies. PaLuke

GMU 48

I have only hunted there one time back in early 2000 when I drew a bull tag. I hunted out of deer creek which is west of the highway past hailey. Saw two nice bulls and got a shot at one but missed! The country is steep and closed to all motorized vehicles off the main roads. That's the only area of 48 I am familier with. I would like to go back sometime if I drew another tag. Get lots of maps of the area if you have not already. Google earth is a great tool and helps out scouting when you can't pound the dirt. Check the fire info exobiologist put out on one of the posts I know they have had some fires in there in the past couple of years as well. Hope this little bit helps and good luck!

Thanks for the reply and

Thanks for the reply and info. We got maps of the area and I'm on google Earth probably too much. One neat thing the Idaho Fish and Game have on their map section now is you can go to Google Earth that has a unit boundry overlay. Thanks again for the help. PaLuke

Your welcome

I forgot about F&G maps. I use them quit a bit and I really like how it outlays the unit boundary. I'm lucky enough with my job that it allows me to play on the puter all day. I don't think one can ever spend too much time on google earth or anthing that has to do with hunting. Guess I'm obsessed
