Unit 40 Colorado

I'm planning an archery hunt in Unit 40 this year, I should have enough points. Due to lack of vacation, I will not be able to scout the area and have never been in that area of the state. Looking for any information on a place to start researching a place to hunt.

Unit 40 Colorado

Its true there are monster elk in 40 and there is huntable public land but most of the unit is private and the public land is very tough hunting. unless some one is willing to take you to there hot spot I would hold off a year and come see it for your self. I would say that 80% of the bulls taken come off private land. It is a doable unit but to come in blind with limited time to hunt could be a real long shot.I know the unit and I know people who do well there and they spend a lot of time scouting.I would hate to see you lose your points and not have a real shot at it. Maybe elkkill06 will take you under his wing. good luck
