Unit 36A Archery in Idaho for Bulls Sept 21st-28th

Hey Guys,

I am going to hunt unit 36A in Idaho with a guide. I know nothing about the unit but have bowhunted in Washington State for the past 20 years. We are excited about the trip, but was hoping anyone could give us their opinions of the unit. We will be hunting off of horseback. Are there usually decent numbers of Elk on that area. Wolves???? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Rifle hunter's there have had a decent success rate over the past years - 23%. Success hasn't dropped drastically recently, so I would think wolves aren't causing too many problems in this region. I'm sure archery success is around the 5% range, but I'm not sure.

It looks like 64% of bull hunters take a 6pt or greater. That's always good news!

Last year it was hot in September. I have a relative who hunted 10 days in September and didn't see a thing. The last day of the hunt they waited at a water hole and a herd came running in, tongues hanging. He took a very nice 6pt herd bull from the group. Hope it cools of this year for you.
