Seriously though, sounds like a cool opportunity.  Just curious, does he know you are planning on asking her?  Or, do you plan on discussing that when you 2 are out in the woods?

Get a tag, and go have fun.  Just make sure to let him have the first shot opportunity at an elk, and volunteer to pack out all the meat yourself. He'll like that.

I have never hunted in Colorado so I can't with the unit your asking about, but I had to make a comment on the proposal situation. All I can say is Good luck and have fun. I'm sure he is a nice enough guy. I hope you can drop a nice elk and put some meat in the freezer.

I think that he assumes that I am going to talk about it because her sister is helping me plan the night I purpose and she can't keep secrets.  I am really looking forward to the hunt though.  I was looking through statistics on the unit and it has about a 40% success rate although that is probably increased to high numbers of private ground.  I'm just excited to get in the woods next weekend!
