Sorry to hear you lost your buck by no fault of your own. However i got to say, at the point at which I learned it was the mans first ever deer hunt, I think I would have changed my tone. Matter of fact at the point where he said he was just trying to help me find the deer I think I would have changed my tone. You know you could have always climbed down and asked the man for some room to hunt. Better yet you could have made sure he didnt sit down right ontop of you before the hunt began. Personally i was waiting for you to say he shot the deer out from uder you and honestly what foul would there have been there after you let him set up right there with you???

Most definately there are morons out there and sorry folks they arent all on public land. many of you private land hunters come to the lodges i guide at and could be easilly construed as morons by the time you leave. Trust me being a moron in the woods aint a public land exclusive. Point is on public land you give up your exclusive rights to any spot and tend to get stuck with hunters who are first timers or weekend warriors that may or may not know what hunting is all about. You got three choices, hunt around it like most of us do, go lease or buy private ground, or stay home.

I can hear that man now. First time I ever went deer hunting i got screamed and yelled at by some moron who was mad cause i tried to help him find his deer.

LOL let's see I was up 25 feet or so I flash a light and talk to a person when they walk in and your suggestion is climb down scare whatever may be in the area because someone doesn't have the knowledge to move on on their own?

I was hunting as soon as it began to get light and I could see through the scope. Is there even such a thing as before the Hunt began? I guess you might be saying something about at the parking area but when you arrive early an get in the woods and there is noone else around what are you suggestiing sitting there to wait for others to show?

Lets review if you notify someone your in a stand position in the woods and you make them known of your position now you are suggesting that you climb down from your prime position to move them along?

If he had shot the deer I would have just let it be, but since he didn't shoot the deer nor did he even see the deer because he was sitting over in a ditch so be it. But one thing I don't do is climb down because someone is too lazy to move out of a area, I did my part by letting him know I was there when he walked in on me. I shouldn't have to direct him to a new area as well that's common sense.

Given the reaction you said you had over him bumping your deer I doubt that very seriously.

When you decided to let him sit in on your hunt, you accepted the fact that you were likely to be interferred with. Thats my point and you got what you get when you let a man set up 50 yards from you. For the record yes i would have gotten down and told him to move along. Had I not I certainly wouldnt have got all pissy and physically threatening when suprise suprise your hunt was interferred with.

First of all, this has nothing to do with Sempr's service to our Country or the Marine Corps and you have no right to tell him to "shape up" in my opinion. It's one thing to have civil discourse, it's another to put one's military service on the line. I don't know what your military service is but show a little respect for crying out loud!

Just because you might have been just like the idiot that Sempr warned and did everything in his power to get's attention short of blowing a fog horn or getting down, doesn't mean that idiot wasn't in the wrong (or that you weren't if you acted like a jack ass).

This idiot paid him NO MIND when he was trying to get his attention. If Sempr hadn't yelled at that guy after he jumped his deer into the RIVER, he might never know proper hunting etiquette. Sometimes when firearms and the public interact, you have to raise your voice a few decibel tones to get the point across and so that he could remember. Sempr did all he could do short of tackling the idiot. In my opinion, Sempr showed considerable restraint due to the fact that we didn't see headlines in the paper stating, "Man kills idiot in the woods in Viriginia."

Oh yeah, and again, what is "before the hunt?" I agree, you must be talking about waiting in the parking lot or something..... For me, the hunt starts as soon as I step into the woods regardless of light conditions.

I have to Agree with FL Cracker here what the Hell does it have to do with my military Service? Which I am fully retired from, and if your read the rest of my signature you would see why I like my dog more than most people!

As for ruining my hunt by climbing down it ain't gonna happen. If you walk in on me while I'm up in a tree and I say howdy your in my shooting lane I expect you to exercise some commone sense and get the hell out of there. Now your saying you have to hold other peoples hands to show them where to go when they should have Learned that in the Basic Course like the rest of us did!

Excuse me for having some respect for your training and the typically well behaved fellas that suit up for our country. You have just tarnished my thoughts on what a marines character is shaped into. Let me correct that statement a carreer marine who retired and represent every man and women in uniform today by plastering Semper and Semper Fi in your post. You brought your service into this when you added it to your signature, least you can do is live up to the image for the fellas taking bullets for your retired self or refrain from boasting an affiliation while you act like a moron.

Far as when the hunt begins that would be at legal shooting time. Everything before that is preparation and if part of that chore is to get an obviously uneducated fella out of your area than I guess its time to finish preparing for your hunt.

Been there done that more than once and matter of fact i walked in on a fella two weeks ago on public land that was all set up in the tree an hour before dark. He was breaking the law obviously as he was already up the tree and settled in three minutes after it was legal to set foot in the woods. I of course moved away from him.

However, Im a guy who has has ample education about hunting etiquette even amongst fellas cheating a wee bit to gain an advantage in hunting spots. The fella you ran into was a first day out newbie. Sorry regardless of what you think, my opinion still stands that you could have handled it better and had you done so you might have met a human you could have not only liked but reaped the rewards of teaching about the finer things that come along with hunting. You robbed yourself.
