Typical Versus Non-Typical

Chechatonga's post a while back in the Midwest thread got me thinking.

Which do you all prefer best a typical or non-typical rack?

I'm a typical fan, blast me if you want too but the big non-typicals look down right freakish, I like symmetry. Not that I wouldn't get the big buck shimmies if I stumbled across a big non-typical while afield. Wink

Typical Versus Non-Typical

I prefer a typical, however again, if a huge non-typical presented me a chance, well I would take it. If someone is showing me a trophy and it is typical I admire it, if it is non-typical I just look at it, it does not strike a cord in my soul. Anyway that explains how I feel.

As for non-typicals, I'm not even sure how they can be properly scored. The system seems to reward the biggest freaks'o nature. Shoot a big freak and you win a record.

That all being said, I still would hang a big freak on my wall.

I think the closer you hunt to a uranium plant or water treatment plant the freakier the racks. LOL. I'm more partial to the typicals, they just seem to possess more of a beauty to them as opposed to the non's. The non's seem to look like some kind of monsters

I definitely prefer typical. I agree with the freakish comment.

Typical Versus Non-Typical

Janet Reno is atypical, but that doesn't mean I want to look at her rack in my living room. Unusual doesn't always equal impressive.

But in terms of deer, I don't think I could pass up the opportunity to pay the taxidermist if I shot a decent atypical buck. There's something to be said for the "Hey, check this out" factor.
