Turkey is Done

Well, the turkey hunt started out cold and wet for me and my brother in law.  We had to chain up the old pickup truck to get up the hill but once we did and set out the decoys it was game on.  It didn't take too long before two gobblers showed up at the same time and two shots later there were two birds on the ground.  My bigest problem was that we were not sitting together and while we both watched them come in we hadn't made a game plan on which one of us was going to shoot first and at which one if more than one came in.  But it worked out.  The bird that I got was a little bit furthur out than the one that my brother in law got and he took the first shot but I was ready and pulled the trigger just a second after he shot his.  They weren't the biggest birds but we are a couple of happy hunters anyway.  Turkey dinner for Sunday.

My brother in law and the birds.

The great thing was that we

The great thing was that we didn't even see another hunter until we were coming out around noon.  Then we passed a couple of hunters coming up the hill getting a real late start.

The moral of the story is don't worry about the weather.  If it is snowing go hunting, if it is raining go hunting.  The birds need to live in it 365 days a year and don't care so why should us hunters?

Hey Congrats Critter!!! Looks

Hey Congrats Critter!!! Looks like some nice birds you guys got there. I completely agree with you about getting out there no matter the weather. some of the best days hunting is when the weather is at its worst. I hope to tag a bird in the next couple weeks, just gotta make some time to get out there. been too busy with the kid's baseball and soccer practises and games.LOL.

Nice work!

That is great that it worked out for both of you to get birds at the same time, even without a definitive plan!  Congratulations!
