trying to move

i've recently been neglecting the forum because i'm trying to buy a house. i'vwe tried hard to find a forclosure with some land at a good price and i've finally landed an offer on one right by a public lake with hunting, fishing, and horse trails.

it seems to be a great property, and the move will be good for my son and family.

they were asking 110k for the property, i offered 100k so we'll see what happens.

now, any of you guys in kansas feel like moving some boxes?  lol!

don't worry, i'll be back in full force afterwards.

Good luck with the offer.

Good luck with the offer. There are some really good deals out there on the market right now. The house bubble was late to hit my home town but boy has it hit. I saw houses going for $300,000 drop by 50% in a matter of a year. The home prices out here are really rediculous anyways so to see them finally statr coming back down to more reasonable prices I might have a change at buying a house with some property. I have been renting just waiting for the bubble to pop and now I can actually get a decent house for a good price. I have some friends though that baught house about 3 years ago when prices were high and now the value of their home fell and they are so upside down in them. I told them to wait a couple years but they didnt think the market would have dropped the way it did. Live and learn I guess. Anyways good luck, I hope you get the house.

That's pretty exciting.  I'd love to have a home with some property that I could hunt and fish.  Although I also like living in town for the convenience--close to stores, gas, schools, etc.

I'd still move out of town, though.  Hope it works out for you.

Congrats ndemiter!  The place already sounds great with hunting and fishing available.  What is good for the family is definitely good for you!  Sorry my moving days of moving boxes are done!

Sounds like a sweet deal and hope it works out for you. As for helping with the boxes, no thanks! I am still unpacking my stuff after returning from Iraq. Let us know if you get it.

Man, private lake, horse

Man, private lake, horse trails, even for $110,000 is awesome!  I hope you get it, and things go off without a hitch.

Living here in San Diego, that wouldn't even be the 20% down payment where my wife wants to live.  Trying to get her to move out of this place.  Ugh!

Best of luck!  Keep us updated!

wives!

i was perfectly happy before i was married living in a tent and riding my horse for transportation. what happened?

just the price we pay for starting a family.

havn't heard anything yet, but it's only been one business day. i'd bet they try to make me sweat for a couple days to see if i'll go higher.

got the house! they counter

got the house! they counter offered me for $102k, and I took it. now the bank needs to come through for me fast and i'll be all moved in before christmas! i probably could have done better on the price, but i wanted it pretty badly, and the nextdoor neighbor bid on it the day I talked to them and asked how long the house was vacant.

here's a link to the place: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/33038-W-271st-St-Paola-KS-66071/77239005_zpid/

it's a pretty good little starter home, and the location makes it 10x better. fortunately for me, i have this understanding wife who lets me go hunting, fishing, trapping and take long horseback rides!

Now, Vermonster, you and your dad are totally welcome

Congratulations on getting the house you were so hoping to get! It's a big responsibility, but makes one feel good knowing he now lives in his own "castle". Best of luck to you and your family in your new home! Thumbs up
