Trijicon Puts Bible References on ACOGs

Thought about putting this in the equipment thread, but it seems to fit here.

ABC News has announced that Trijicon is incorporating Bible references in the serial numbers of ACOG sights sold to the military. Trijicon has confirmed it. Obviously, the Left is horrified by the insensitivity to Islam. Only a liberal would consider a hidden Biblical reference on a scope more offensive to an enemy than the bullets coming out of the muzzle. What's next? Demands that we cancel defense contracts made with Israeli companies? And what about all of those Christian chaplains on the military's payroll, handing out government-printed bibles in government-built chapels? What about the St Sebastian medal the soldier's wearing under his shirt? Should we ban religous tattoos? Perhaps we should prohibit soldiers from praying before they go into combat. Maybe we should immediately remove all of those ACOGs from service and deny our troops a valuable weapon for the sake of political correctness.

Dang. And I just bought an Eotech. Now I've got to come up with a reason to buy Trijicon. They just became my favorite optics company.

Interesting story. Using bible references in the serial numbers of scopes is a bit eccentric. Getting wound up about it is even more eccentric.

I'm surprised they didn't try to say that the "cross" hairs are also a religious reference.

Maybe the left would rather we should we start using Crescents instead of crosshairs? Laugh Laugh Laugh

I like it, the whole biblical thing. Seems fitting for the war we're in.

I can think of no better time for prayer than when being shot at. Unless possibly it's after the bullet has hit you.

Yeah, I noticed it after I posted and took a closer look. Still -- gotta admire their convictions.

I've owned a couple and honestly regret selling them. They're expensive, but they are worth it. Didn't know about the Biblical reference though.

Re: Trijicon Puts Bible References on ACOGs

UPDATE: Trijicon has caved and will no longer include the Biblical references on scopes sold to the military, and will provide "modification kits" to the military to remove existing references. Given that we're fighting an enemy driven by religious fanatacism, there's something disturbingly ironic about telling our troops (most of which are Christian, by the way) that they have to remove references to scripture from their scopes. Personally, I think they ought to offer each soldier a choice: if you're offended by the scriptural reference, you can turn in your offending ACOG and use ron sights.

Our media strikes again and delivers a blow for the enemy and the "freedom from religion" crowd. Lawsuit to remove "In God We Trust" from our money in 5...4...3...2...

Just another classic example of how there isn't a place left on earth where "political correctness" hasn't intruded and shown it's ugly face. Even on the battlefield. As recent as the morning of 9/11 I never would have thought we'd be seeing this type of stuff being critcized in the media. :rotest1

Apparently people have forgotten that there are no atheists in foxholes.

I read that Trijicon is removing the model numbers and is offering the military 100 removal kits.
