The trifecta....almost!

An absolutely beautiful morning here this morning. 21* with a heavy frost and very still. I was in my spot by an hour before SR and had seen 5 does by SR, two within 20 yards of my spot (on the ground). About 30-45 mins after SR this fella came by. I thought he was going to trail the does that passed really close by, but he didn't. He took another trail maybe 70 yards away in thick cover. I had to stand to take my shot and when the Marlin Guide gun in .450 spoke he went straight down.

Now, I normally do not shoot bucks with less than 8 pnts and I thought this one was an 8, but he turned out to be a 7. So, no trifecta (3 bucks of at least 8 pnts in one season) this year, yet. No matter, he'll still eat just fine I'm sure!! Yes

But, I still have one more Tennessee buck tag left.

Perfect hunting weather.

Perfect hunting weather. Looks like a pretty good buck to me and it's not often we get a chance to run around and count the other side also. lol

Thanks

I need to thank you all for your nice comments. I've been out there tryin' but the weather has not been too good. I sat in rain, sleet & snow for over three hourse yestrday at the dawn of the morning and no deer wanted that. I was back this morning (different spot) and the weather was perect! 24* and still, heavy frost. One deer, a small spike horn, came by and that was it!...lol.

May (or may not) go in the morning, but am sure I'll be back in Kentucky Saturday for the M/L late season for my doe there.  Thumbs up

Good Shooting Tn

Big holes make for short blood trails.  But how can this be!? A fat, slow bullet from a rifle without a scope?

Good Job Buddy!!

Congrats

Congratulations! Nice buck. I did the same thing in PA bow season. I looked at one side and then the spread and never looked at the antlers again until I retrieved him later.
