Howdy.. I'm new here. I live in the great sticks of Alaska pretty much full time. I own Karelian Bear Dogs, which I use for both guard purposes for the homestead, and to a limited extent, "black bear" hunting. My dogs are very savy hunting wise, and my male does tree bears naturally. In fact we got our bear this year because he sent it up a tree and kept it there. The thing is, is that we have no formal training, and are just winging it. I don't find much data or resources concerning training dogs to hunt bear. So... I'm here hoping to find someone who could share some advice. I haved the hide of our bear to use as a training aid, but really don't have a clue on how to get started. I'd like to be able to repeat the sucess of our first hunt this coming season. Thanks for any advice... regards...
