I believe they are the toughest animal to hunt. The numbers are not great to begin with and the country you find them in can be unforgiving to say the least. We have not had any luck either; but I have heard of a few kills in Unit 30. I'm headed back up for (4) days and then will hit it again from the 22nd to the end of the hunt. When calling coyotes, more often than not they will circle on a target they are
coming into and approach from the downwind side. Presumably they do this in
order to align what they smell, with what they are hearing.
This means that you should always have your downwind side camouflaged and have
an open shooting lane. If the area is heavily covered the coyote could come in
take a look and be gone, with you none the wiser.
