Tom II - the Sequel

Monday seems to be my special day this season. I gave up on roost areas and planned to hunt a strutting zone today. Perfect morning and a perfect result! Check out my blog if you would like to read how I filled my last tag for 2007: http://storytrax.com/node/729

I've gotten a couple with ivory tips but never seen one with bases like that.
Do you know what causes them to be the ivory color?

I did a quick internet check and could not find out any new information. We may need a biologist to answer that question. Perhaps like human hair color, spur colors vary. The beard on this beard had a reddish-tint tint rather than the standard black.
