"Thrifty" Scope Recommendations?

Well I've finally admitted that my open sight shooting is at an end (at 100 yards on a bench, I'm +/- 1 inch in deflection, and +/- 3 inches in elevation on that big blur down range). So now I want to learn how to use a scope (I’ve never even looked through one before). I understand that buying a cheap scope means I'll be buying another in the near future, but I would like to start with a "thrifty" (cheap) 3-9X40 to see how I do with the basic functions first, then get a good one once I have a better understanding of what I'll really need to fit me. The scope will be mounted on an M1A with a Sadlak scope mount. Most of my target shooting is on a 100 yard range, but I can access the 300 yard range at a nearby Army base. I would like to keep it under $200.00

Thanks in advance,

I would look at Mueller Optics scopes. They are a new company and I am happy with the 3-9X that I purchased. You might also look at Cabela's scopes.

You might want to take a look at the Burris Fulfield II scopes. Very nice for the price.

He's right. For the extra 50 bucks or so you'll get a great scope youll never have to replace and save money when you don't have to buy another one in the long run. Great product!
