Hey, Alpine. What hunts are you putting in for at Roanoke River GL? I was thinking about Town Swamp and/or Broadneck Swamp on the Lower Roanoke. If you have a boat, try Company swamp. Bigger deer on the N side of the river. There are some clubs on that side of the river adjoining the GL that manage for trophy bucks. Probably going to put in for Garibaldi and Odom on the Upper RR GL. Good luck!

I sent ya a PM I havnt decided on the tracts yet... I do have a boat so access isnt an issue.

Worked on Stands today

Dad and I worked on a few of the stands today. Cleared shooting lanes for one plus put on a new strap and re-secured the bottom of the ladder. Cleared shooting lanes for the second and third stands plus replaced a worn strap. Relocated the fourth stand - took it out of a large wooded valley and put it on the edge of the field above the same area. Seven more stands to complete some maintenance on and then wait for the 29th of September! Here are some pictures. 1st is a before shot and the rest are after shots.

Nice stands, Your the 2nd

Nice stands, Your the 2nd person I've seen use stands in colorado... Not very popular out that way lol. My dads buddy used to hunt elk from a stand out there and everyone thought he was crazy. Most people prefer spot and stalk but he got his elk every year.

Actually these stands are all

Actually these stands are all in SE Ohio - Harrison county - on Dad's farm... so all are for the whitetail he hunts there as well as for me too this season. However, I think using a stand for hunting Colorado is very feasible after hunting some private property in unit 79 last year. Definitely requires setting it up in the very right area.
