Good luck with your situation. So many things seem to have become so complicated. It is a matter of people considering other people. Like always God nails it "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Well, for the record, another Saturday of anticipated enjoyment was ruined by the same hunt club's dogs on my farm. So, I didn't hunt. Of course, I'd rather have been enjoying my own property sitting up one of my own tree stands. I do believe that I may go out and volunteer at the SPCA. Fewer dogs there than here....................

I shoot all dogs that are running deer.

End of story, not the dogs fault but I'm not putting up with this junk from people.

Have shot several and have no regrets shooting a dog that runs deer.

I bet you can also beat up 1st graders and steal their milk money! Girls too!! Shame on You!

In my neck of the woods you would be committing a crime and would be nothing more than a common criminal and be treated as such.

I'm not suggesting it, but the 3S rule pretty much solves the immediate problem. Enough deer doggers make up their pack from the dog pound that shooting the dogs only works for the rest of the weekend. A long term solution has to happen at the hunter level.

Putting the collar in the river won't always work. Some of them are waterproof and can be tracked as they move downstream. You can get into serious trouble with all the idiots that are allowed to vote nowadays, so beware.

Now, I HEARD this somewhere and I offer it only to fan the flames, but here goes:

(EDITED)
I never did such a thing, I just HEARD it.

Sympathies to deer doggers that actually care about the dogs and try to engage in the sport without bothering others. You're fighting a losing battle. You've got my vote where necessary.

Well, I've said that I won't harm a dog, and I still won't, unless it's doing something that legally warrants it. Now, most all of us look foward to the weekend, when we usually have more time to hunt. EVERY SATURDAY HAS BEEN DOGGED in my woods so far this season. And my taxes were almost doubled this year on the farm due to reasessments. The main reason I have mature hardwoods, and good habitat, is for wildlife. I cannot enjoy my own property, and get mad(dangerously) every Saturday. And this activity is by no means limited to Saturdays. It happens during the week, whenever the club has enough members together to hunt. If I sold the timber and clear-cut the farm, that wouldn't solve anything, and I wouldn't want to deprive the animals of much-needed habitat. It's a no-win situation........

Is there a non-lethal chemical on the market to keep dogs away ? I know I have seen stuff to keep rabbits or deer out of gardens etc. Maybe a veterinarian would have some ideas.

I got this from the NRA - here is an opportunity to address the problem with deer dogs.

VIRGINIA: Hunting With Hounds Under Review: The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries has launched a review of hound hunting in the Commonwealth. Virginia Tech is conducting focus group meetings around the state during December. Trespass complaints from property owners have sparked this review. The Department's goal is "To provide diverse opportunities for hunting with hounds in Virginia in a manner that is fair, sportsmanlike and consistent with the rights of property owners and other citizens." The process includes many avenues for hound hunters to participate, such as focus group meetings with individual stakeholder groups, a survey conducted through the Department's website, opportunity to review all developments, public meetings, and by letter or e-mail. About half of the focus groups will be comprised of bear, deer, fox, and raccoon hound hunters. The remainder of the focus groups will be populated by landowners, government representatives, other hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. If you are a hound hunter, make your views known during this public process. Go to http://www.dgif.state.va.us/hunting/hounds for more information about how you can participate.

Thanks. I, too have that info. I have contacted the Governor's office in order to be notified personally when to attend a meeting. I could not find an active forum through VDGIF at this time. It must be a time-sensitive thing, and I don't want to miss my chance to "gripe". VDGIF probably doesn't want to hear any more complaints from me, as I have bugged them alot over the years about this. I do think that I'd make an excellent "poster child" on the abusive practices of dog infringement. Hope all this will work, but I seriously doubt it. I think this "showing of concern" is simply political, and nothing beneficial will come out of it. Dog groups in Va. are too powerful politically. I have suggested to VDGIF many times, that if nothing else can be done, at least give private landowners a "special hunting season" to enjoy their own property, during which time it would be illegal for any local clubs to ruin pleasure of it. Heck, give us different seasons. Let dog hunters hunt after we have had a couple weeks to ourselves. Should be a simple fix, because I know Va. is not going to ban deer dogs.

Post Michael Vick jerseys around your property.

That might have been a bad joke.
