I am purchasing a Thompson Center Encore rifle for the Elk season where I live. I am also purchasing a .300 win mag barrell to go with it. Does anyone have any advice or opinion on this particular gun. Any advice for a scope..........
Yeah, I was recently looking at these too, and I'd like to hear what people think too. For a scope I'd probably go with a fixed power or a 3x9, given that your probably intending to go muzzleloading and are going to have shots in the 50-75 yard range, where high power is pointless.
I own an encore rifle with a 300 win mag barrle and the 209x50. I love it I shoot nosler balistic tips 150 grain and also have a round worked up for nosler partitions 150. It shoots great and TC is very easy to deal with if you have a problem. I currently have a 4-12 scope on both barrles. This year I shot a whitetail with the muzzle loader at about 120 yds. I shoot targets with the muzzle loader out to 200. One word of advice if you buy the 300 win mag barrell get it with a muzzle break, I didnt but the i sent it in to have one installed
Let me start off by saying I am not a farmer.
I am a deer hunter and I do own a tractor and have all of the equipment - but that does not make you a farmer any more than standing in the garage makes you a car - well, you get the picture!
Having said that - and with most of my ineptitude fairly well hidden - I do think that buckwheat is one of the most under rated cover crops out there.
I say cover crop because I see mixed results as it relates to the deer eating the plants.
