Companies just want to push more and more product out the door. The more they sell the better it is for them. I suppose any company selling disposable goods can get away with that practice much easier.
I've even noticed some good old companies who make durable goods used to offer lifetime warranties on thier durable product, and now more recently they changed that warranty to 10 years or less.
