Hello to all. I'am new to this board and I hunt with a bow. I think this site is awesome!!!

Is anybody having the same problem as me,not seeing any elk??? It is weird this year. I have hunted from rimrock to the nile area to easton and I have only seen 1 elk. Last year atleast we saw alot of elk(never got close enough for a shot)but this year is like a switch went off and they disapeared. Any help as to were you fine hunter's are seeing those vanishing beast would be great. Thanks in advance.

Is there any elk????

I spent last weekend scouting in the upper Wenas drainage. Saw NO elk and NO fresh sign. Didn't smell 'em or hear 'em either. Kinda dead, I'd say.

Will be up there again this coming weekend, they oughta be bugling all over the place if they're in there.

The rain should help.

Is there any elk????

Hello Guys
Been to hot and dry on this side of the hump this year . We have had a little rain the last couple of days . Hope we get more before muzzleloader season .
Elk are either real high or /and in the deepest hole they can find . Too many of our springs are dry this year in the lower areas . Going out tommorow to see what we can find .

Moe did you see any deer in 342 ? Where did you do your scouting in 342 ?
Good luck fellas

Finding the Elk

Hunted the first seven days of the season down south of St Helens. Were in elk everyday but have to go deep down in the holes and darkest timber to find them......They're there....you just have to hunt them out...................... Thumbs up

Is there any elk????

I would love to try the westside for elk and I tried to talk my dad into it this year. I hunt mostly with my dad and he is a one of those "back in the olden days" guys and loves to hunt the eastside. I feel alittle more at ease now that I hear other hunter's not even seeing them. I saw a cow hanging up by the Lindsey camp area. Just saturday I saw one hanging at the lower camps in the Easton area but I did not see any in both areas. They are out there just not as many as years past.

I did hear rumor that they "thinded out" the yakima herd to around 9,000 elk. Do any of you guys know if this is true???

I know this is their goal but I don't think the WF&G has reached it yet . Just my guess though . You should find some Elk in 340 or 346 you will have to get way back in there though , at this time of year and the kind of year we have had . Their in the deepest darkest holes they can find .
Good Luck to you & your dad.

If your hunting around Tucannon and Dayton area good luck to ya. Was talking to a buddy from Dayton and due the fires he can't get to or they have been destroyed is prime elk areas. This fall is gonna be poor for elk at this rate. I done a couple of trips in years back with my father and brothers to the White pass area near wistling jack lodge and seen and tages some. But eithor way godd luck to the rest of ya.

Is there any elk????

Just got back from scouting Wenas area 342 on the Atvs 40 + miles . Not one elk or track . Checked all the good water holes . I have hunted this area for over 50 years and this is the first time I can remember , that you could not find where they had at least crossed a road some where . Did see 3 Mule Deer doe's with fawns , one set of twins .
Will look in a few other places next week . Have to get hooked up as Muzzleloader season starts Oct. 7th to the 13th Deer 3point or bigger and I was lucky and drew a cow Elk tag good for the same time .
Good Luck to all of you hunters

Went scouting today and saw my first spike bull elk of the season up Joe Wyatt Canyon road. I also saw a turkey, a grouse, and three doe's. Not a bad way to spend a day in the woods! Thumbs up
