Texas State Rep Educates US Senators on the 2nd Amendment

This is an older video (from 2003) but I feel still has a very powerful message.

Texas State Representative Suzanna Gratia-Hupp testifies about the 2nd amendment. She does not support hunting, however her testimony is still powerful in regards to the 2nd amendment.

A quote by Hupp:
"How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual... as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of."

The video may have been posted in 2003, but was obviously Congressional testimony from 1993-94 before the Clinton gun ban. One of the people staring at her is Chuck Schumer, and she's talking about assault weapons and magazine capacity.

Hupp's story did more for CCW reform than just about anybody, and needs to be remembered. But as I was watching this, I couldn't help but think how times have changed.

If she were to come forward in political discussion today, the left would do everything it could to silence her through personal destruction. Instead of debating her testimony and the 2nd Amendment, we'd be hearing about her family history, background, business practices, church attendance, whether her chiropractic practice constitutes legitimate medicine, and whether it's right for a physician to be interested in harming another human being.

The Hmong think hot coins burning the skin do the trick.

I'm curious why she doesn't support hunting.

Does it matter why she doesn't support hunting?

Her message was right on and very moving.

Just curious is all. I mean most folks in Texas don't abhor hunting.

She's an attractive well spoken advocate, so what. I mean it's too bad about her folks and all, but innocent people get killed all the time. We're at the hundreds of thousands mark in Iraq. Is it possible to imagine hundreds of thousands of other daughters, sisters, wifes with the same grief? One persons story is a tragedy, a hundred thousand stories are a statistic.

I've heard people on this forum advocate torture and murder, maybe when they say those kinds of things they should keep the image of that woman in mind.

Come on Civetcat, be honest. No one on this forum advocates murder. You might take what someone says and twist it, but in all honestly there is not one post where someone says I advocate murder.

Of course, you're always welcome to prove me wrong. Point me to the post where someone said in their words, not yours, that they advocate murder.

So what? Too bad?
This from the hypocrite who supposedly and I quote "values all life"? Apparently only left wing life.
In addition I do not place ( as do you) terrorists in the same catagory of "victims" as were this womans family or our soldiers in Iraq. I do not value terrorist lives and sincerly hope they all get paid a visit some dark night by one of our brave SEALS or other Special forces member. If this offends your poor little sensibilites.....tough!!! Grow up. I would suggest you save your sympathy for the victims and families of these murderers instead of the perpetrators. In addition I will say it again. I have no problem with terrorists being waterboarded or anything else if it saves american soldiers or civilians. Nor do I care whether you like it or not.

Hundreds of thousands mark of what?
Do you believe that we are fighting Iraqis in Iraq?
Iraqis have no second ammendment rights. so why bring them into the conversation?
A statistic showing what?
You need a subject for a statistic to be meaningful.
A hundred thousand stories could also be a tragedy.

That statement is an outright lie. I have seen no one on this forum advocate murder.

Amazing...no matter what the topic, it's only a matter of time before liberals get spun up about one of the following:

Bush lied
Iraq is an unwarranted disaster
Katrina
Karl Rove
Dick Cheney

The important thing here is that on that fateful day in Luby's, they had mashed potatoes on the serving line. If Luby's hadn't offered potatoes, a lot of people wouldn't have been in that cafeteria and lives would've been saved.

If every discussion can be tied to some sort of Bush conspiracy, I'll wager there's a corresponding potato connection that can be explored as well.

It was one of those right wing Idaho Militias. Angry over the price of potatos used to make french fries. It's a conspiracy I say! Think of the pain inflicted on all those potatos by vodka swilling french fry eating Americans. Potatos are living things with feeling too. I VALUE ALL LIFE! Even plant life. We need to overthrow all vegans. It's cruelty to another living thing to eat it.
