Terrorist or Hero?

You got that right, pangolin. Thumbs up Unlike the pro-life movement, there's no pattern behind the guy who shot the recruiters. The nutjob in Kansas was no doubt wrapped up in dogma gleaned from years of hanging around Christian churches that preached pro-life hatred. The Arkansas guy was surely justifiably upset about the war, which conflicted with his peaceful Islamic faith. Unlike Christianity, the connection between Islam and terrorism is tenuous at best. The guy in Kansas was a terrorist, pure and simple. But the guy in Arkansas was a victim.

I'd have to differ about the connections to extremism. Both Christian and Muslim Fundamentalists seem to think they have a monopoly on how people are supposed to be, and watch out any one who disagrees. Next thing you know you aren't invited to the rapture.

Here's what I find interesting:

Attack 1: Abortion doctor killed by religious extremist. Obama immediately releases a statement that day condemning the attack and expressing his "shock and outrage."

Atttack 2: Military recruiter killed by religious extremist. Obama doesn't say a word.

Maybe it was because no one on Fox had been calling military recruiters murderers for however many years O'Riely has been on Fox. Or comparing them to HItler, Nazis, and so on. Maybe it's because he wasn't part of a well connected long standing terrorist cell.

Is Bunny correct, is everyone who commits an act of violence to make a political point despicable or does it depend on the situation?

It would appear I did not make myself as clear as I should have. Not any act of violence is despicable nor any act committed for political reason. Far from it. If I believed that our founding fathers would be terrorists. What I meant was the taking of INNOCENT life. Non combatants. Civilians. Done purposely to make a political statement. Sorry if a didn't clarify that enough.

Hmmm...according to the FBI, Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad was already under investigation for a trip to Yemen, where he was arrested for traveling under a Somali passport. While there, he apparently studied jihad under an Islamic scholar.

But once again, even though pro-lifers like me are disgusted by people like Tiller, I condemn the actions of his murderer. I don't hear the left condemning Muhamad or his actions.

No problem, you just got me thinking with what you said. It is a compliment that your words inspire thought and further discussion.

I think we are on the same page on this issue.

This is why I participate here. You and the others share different insights and are multi-dimensional in your views. Makes me think and consider other view points.

While I've been accused of not wanting to hear from the "other side" I truly enjoy debate and other view points. Of course, there are those that are one trick ponies that repeat the same old tired mantra and become invisible and irrelevant due to it.

Here's another thought. Some people out there are positively frothing at the mouth to blame O'Reilly and everyone associated with the pro-life movement for Tiller's death.

So I fully expect those same people to blame Cindy Sheehan, Michael Moore, Sean Penn, and all of the anti-war nutjobs for Pvt Long's murder in Little Rock. They've been waging a highly organized, well-funded campaign of hatred for years against our troops.

I'm shocked to hear that Obama has not made an official statement about the recuiter's murder. I figured I had just missed it.

Have to agree with you Ex, if the left wants to spread the blame to all the conservative talking heads, then they also need to accept the blame for their own nutjobs going off & murdering.

Have anything to back up that rediculous statement? Heck Ciny Sheehan is a gold star mom. Have a little decency and respect why don't you.
