The numbers are now in. For the opening weekend of bow, Tennessee hunters harvested 2800 deer, with about 40% being rack bucks. 69 turkeys were also taken by bow hunters. My county was 3rd in deer harvest and #1 in turkeys taken with bow.
Sound like a successful weekend, and you must be smack dab in the middle of it! We expect nothing less than 8-10 deer, with a couple of 180 inch bucks in your future!!!!
Best of luck! I'll be out again next Monday. Gonna try stalking for them for a change. I never do that, but I am tired of sitting in one place and not seeing anything. Maybe I will get lucky this time.
The stats for the first two weeks are now in with almost 8400 deer taken and still almost 40% bucks. My county is now #2 in deer harvest and also #2 in turkey harvests with the bow as well. I'm still not sure if I'll be out in Tennessee before early M/L season. Kentucky early M/L season is this weekend and the weather looks decent!
As the allure of hunting big whitetails becomes more and more a passion for many, we are finding that the recent (historically speaking) popularity of hunting deer from a tree stand is becoming the way to do it. I'll make no statement either for or against that technique here. This will be simply an essay on what I feel are some outstanding rifles for tree stand use.
Before we go even one more step, let's all remember that safety is first and foremost for anyone wanting to hunt...
