my buddies and i went on a hog hunt like that, we all killed one each. the other four killed all looked like tennessee's pig, but mine looks like this. maybe somebody can explain the differnce in subspecies (english wild boar vs. Russian) or maybe mine's a feral?

Most of the pigs we killed on that hunt were red ones but a few of them, including tnhoundsmans were black. Only the face of his boar was brown, the rest of the pig was black. Thats a real nice trophy you got there! I hope you got it mounted.

yeah, he's at the taxidermist's place right now. boar are a little more expensive than deer though. i had to get a closed mouth mount, open mouth would have been an extra $150. and i was already paying $375. plus, my girlfriend keeps fighting me about where it's gong to hang. i say, over the bed, she says in the closet... i'm holding out for a clean victory on that one.

the question i have, is why doesn't my black hog have such a long face like this one? i got an older boar hog, is that the only reason he's got the hump at the top of his head? or was mine a cross of some kind? we shot one that looked like this, and there's also a good number of feral hogs in the area as well. somebody let a bunch go for the pleasure of hunting, and they're taking over, so people have been letting us hunt them just to get them off their land.
