This is exactly the kind of

This is exactly the kind of backlash I was concerned about. The liberal media is going to make ALL hunting look bad.

I posted about it here:

Maybe I missed it, but I

Maybe I missed it, but I don't see anything wrong with this "backlash".  Don't get me wrong, that website is trash, but this paragraph is spot on....

"Their victims are helpless wild animals, who just want to live free of molestation from humans. But wildlife watchers and lawful hunters are cheated by the actions of these people, too, since the poacher kills and depletes wildlife and denies opportunities for others."

Ted broke the law, both by shooting over bait, and by shooting a non legal deer.  That's a poacher, pretty much by definition.

Pretty good example article

Pretty good example article of why the huffington post is just raw liberalism with a very thin veneer of professionalism.  The "article" linked doesn't say "opinion" or "editors view", rather its an article, written by one Wayne Pacelle.  Has Wayne ever written anything positive about hunting in any context?  Of course not.  Never mind that Uncle Ted plead no-contest.

This isn't reporting its a blog post from a very biased "reporter".  Maybe next week they'll have a feature story about Judaism written by Ahmadinejad.

The liberal media is going to

The liberal media is going to make ALL hunting look bad regardless of the whos, whats, wheres, whys and hows. Nugent is just the latest target. The sad thing is that so many people actually believe the crap that "sources" like the Huffington Post and the Humane Society regurgitate. Wonder if Huffington has ever questioned Pacelle about the fact (that is easily proven) that 90+% of the pets brought in to Humane Society shelters end up leaving via the dumpster after being "humanely" euthanized. The hypocracy of these groups is truly spectacular.

We as a hunting fraternity cannot spend our energy worrying about what they are going to say because no matter we say or do, good or bad, they will turn it to their own version of truth. That said, when one of ours like Nugent falters we can't abandon or sacrifice him but instead need to back them up.

That article is pretty darn

That article is pretty darn slanted but I am damn disapointed in The Nuge. I own many of his books and agree with a lot of his beliefs but this is unacceptable. I can't believe he would do such a thing when he knows he has that many eyes on him.

He let us down as a spokesman for sportsman!

Has Nugent ever offered his side of the story?

From experience, there is always two sides...sometimes even three

3 Sides To Every Story

I agree and given his high profile it only stands to reason that those who have differing views than him will do what they can to make him look bad.

That is not to say that I condone what he did, if reported facts are true, but first I think we all need to remember that even famous folks are human and put their pants on one leg at a time.

I've met a few "famous" folks in my time. Unlike some people I don't like folks because they're famous and could really care less about that. People like Ted Nugent live in a different world so to speak than us mere mortals. Maybe we should just treat him, and other famous folks, like the mortals they really are?

I haven't watched Nugent in a long time but did see his show this weekend. At the end he stressed the importance of knowing each states hunting laws. He said they vary and can trip you up but it is your responsibilty to make sure you are legal.

Good advice and looks like he learned his lesson.

There seems to be a lot of hunting infractions by Ted Nugent. Can there really be that many incidents that he is not at fault in? Does he believe he is above the law like a bunch of Pro-football players and basketball players, coaches too I might add. Just a couple of these incidents come to light and we all get a bad name!
