Well I made it out on firday.

Well I made it out on firday. The morning hunt was very slow as I didnt see anything but a single doe. At about 11:30am i found a nice little glassing point and sat down and took a little nap. I woke up around 3pm and started glassing the far canyon. I spotted a buck at the bottom working his way up to where i was. I watched him bed down and began my stalk. I got to 50yrds and looked for a way to get 10-15yrds closer, I found a way just to my left. at the same time i stepped and some rocks slid out from under my feet altering the buck after a 10 minute stare down he fled the scene. It was a dandy blacktail( hard horned) 4x4 probably around 120-130. I would have been extremely happy with that guy. oh well maybe I'll get another crack at him later in the season. I'm gonna try to go out Monday morning then after that i wont get out again till the 14th for my 10 days off for hunting.

Last night I went out to sit

Last night I went out to sit in my stand and see what comes out into the field but when I was walking down a four wheeler trail and I was about to turn into the woods where my stand was at and 3 does walked out so I got down on my knees and watched them for a while then I started to crawl up the trail to get closer so I could watch them more and so I watched them for 35 minutes or so until dark then crawled out for a while until I was far enough away that I could stand without them seeing me.  So looks like i'm going to be eating venison when the season opens lol... unless I miss... which I wont. Big smile

Well guys my archery season

Well guys my archery season is over with nothing yet. I got a two week break before general season. Been working out of town for a while, but should be able to hit it again around the end of the month. Glad everyone is seeing some deer out there. Bugs, can you hit does where your at? I've had several good shots for does but cant here in Cali. Also passed up the same fork/spike 3 seperate times. As it gets later we'll see.

Yeah I can shoot does its

Yeah I can shoot does its kinda late but I found a spot where I want to stick another stand.  with the trail cam pic do you think it is a buck?  I bought a cheap tasco camera and they are crap with a 3 seconds trigger speed so I only caught the back half of a big bodied deer.

It sure does look like a big

It sure does look like a big bodied deer. It very well could be a buck. The only thing that would make me think otherwise is the hawks or tarsal gland area is not very dark.

My season starts tomorrow.  I have 2 doe tags and a buck tag.  This year my unit is in herd control so I can get as many does as I want for $2 a tag.  Hopefully I nail one tomorrow.  Good huntin everyone.
